Choosing a caterer

Six questions worth asking any caterer before a formal event, and Marble's answers to them.

Choosing a caterer is a decision made once and seen by every guest. These six questions show the difference between a company that sends food and one that runs the hospitality.

1. What is their record at similar events?

Ask about events of the same size and kind. Marble has served more than 90 private and public events in the Kingdom and worked with the Ministry of Energy, NEOM, Ithra and Arab National Bank.

2. Can you taste before the day?

A large event cannot be judged from photographs. For large events Marble arranges a tasting ahead of the day, at the restaurant itself.

3. Is the proposal written and clear?

A good proposal states the menu, the programme and the cost together, so nothing is discovered on the day. We send ours within 48 hours of the first contact.

4. Who is there on the day?

Food that is dropped off is not a team that stays. The Marble chef and service team arrive before the guests with the fire lit, and the meat is carved in front of them.

5. Can they handle your numbers?

Make sure the company can serve your headcount without the standard slipping. We cater from 50 to more than 1,000 guests off-site, and up to 80 at Marble itself with a full buyout.

6. Do they work outside Riyadh?

If the event is in another city, ask about real experience there. Marble serves every region of the Kingdom and has worked in Dhahran and beyond.
